Educational Psychologist
About my Practice
Every child learns differently. Some struggle in silence; others are misinterpreted or misunderstood. Through careful, compassionate evaluation, I help families and educators understand the "why" behind learning, behavioural, and emotional difficulties.

My approach is collaborative. I work closely with families, schools, and other professionals to ensure that every child receives the understanding and resources they need to succeed.

Why Choose an Educational Assessment?
Whether your child is struggling in school, seems overwhelmed, or isn’t reaching their full potential, an assessment can provide clarity. It’s not about labelling — it’s about learning how to best support your child with evidence-based recommendations tailored to their unique strengths and needs.
About Me
Hello! My name is Sheree Adams. I am a registered Educational Psychologist practicing in the Bryanston, Lonehill, Fourways, and Dainfern areas with a focused interest in psychological and educational assessments and the provision of learning support for children.

My passion for supporting children’s cognitive, social, and emotional development has grown steadily throughout my professional journey. Over time, I became increasingly interested in the factors that contribute to children’s cognitive development, as well as how these factors influence learning, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing.

I believe that children thrive best when the adults around them are well informed and supported. For this reason, a key aspect of my work is assisting parents to better understand their children’s learning profiles, strengths, and areas of need. I am committed to empowering parents with practical insight and guidance so that they can confidently support their children’s learning and development at home and in collaboration with schools and other professionals.

Psycho-educational Assessment
Comprised of intellectual, educational and emotional assessments, a complete psycho-educational assessment provides insight into a child's unique cognitive strengths and weaknesses. It also provides insight into how these skills are able to impact their reading, writing, mathematical and/or oral expression abilities, and the ways in which their emotional functioning may be impacting their performance within the classroom environment.
School Readiness Assessments
These assessments are helpful for determining a child's readiness to enter the school environment. They provide an understanding of their visual, spatial, memory, co-ordination, numerical and verbal skills, and can be completed individually or as part of a group.
Subject Choice and Career Assessments
These are formal assessments done to assist individuals in choosing subjects and making career choices, aligned with their skills, interests and values.
Concessions
A formal assessment that assists in determining whether your child needs specific accomodations (like extra time, a scribe, or rest breaks) to fairly demonstrate their knowledge in tests and exams.
Fees
This practice is contracted out of medical aid rates. As a result, clients are responsible for payment of their account, and will need to claim directly from their medical aids. It is advisable that clients contact their medical aids for information as to how much of the assessment they are willing to cover.
Half of the cost of the assessment is payable before the assessment begins. The initial interview fee will later be deducted from the total cost of the assessment.

The Assessment Process
1
Intake Interview
This session occurs online prior to the assessment and requires about 40 - 60 minutes of your time minutes.
Within this session we aim to clarify the reason for referral and gain pertinent background information on your child, that can impact how the results are seen and interpreted.
It also provides you with a chance to elaborate on any concerns or have any questions you may answered.
2
Assessment
The educational assessment itself then is administered over the course of one or two morning.
I use a variety of different standardised assessments which will allow me to gain a greater understanding of any factors which may be impacting your child’s academic functioning.

3
Feedback
The feedback session is generally 50 minutes long and occurs online within 3 weeks after the completion of the educational assessment.
Within this session, the results of the assessment, and my recommendations based on these findings are discussed. You will be provided with a comprehensive report in this session.
